Curled up on the couch with a cup of tea in hand, I ponder this morning’s devotional. Love one another. “By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:35
I’m in search of my college volleyball team, some I find and others remain a mystery. I began to wonder. In the 4-5 years together, have the seeds of loving one another ever come to fruition. The short time we had, though it seems just yesterday we were on the road to Austin, TX or Kentucky for a tournament, did we truly love? We were family, caring for and annoying each other every day, yet now many of us are out of touch. How did life pull us apart when we were so knit together? Was our loving one another real? Where are we in our walks with Christ and are we living out His truth today? How many of us stepped off the path and are about to or have been devoured by the wolves? My heart cares, so, I continue to search.
For my closest friends of today, I know these answers, because we are involved in each others lives so much that I wonder if we have other friends. We have formed a family, no different then that of my volleyball team. However, I believe that our strong individual relationships with Jesus Christ strengthens our relationships with one another. We love one another. We’ve been tested with life changes, yet we are determined to stay involved, by reaching, praying, and being together, even just for a moment in time. I honestly can say we live John 13:35.
When reconnecting with the past, it shouldn’t be a matter of I wonder what they are up to, but how can I love them better. Perhaps you live in a different state, so seeing each other might be slim, but there’s this little thing called the internet. Reconnect, do it! When you do, ask yourself: What can I say or do to love them?
